Frequently asked questions

Where do the prices come from?

Every price is copied from the provider's own pricing page for that country and dated. We don't use resellers or review sites as a source.

Why do some providers show Unknown?

Because they don't publish a price in pounds. Some only show US dollars, some sell through resellers and some ask you to request a quote. We don't guess or convert.

How is the estimated monthly cost worked out?

We take the cheapest published plan with unlimited UK calls or at least 750 minutes per user and multiply its per-user price by 5, or by the provider's minimum number of users if that's higher. Hardware and setup fees are left out, and we show the total with VAT where the provider says VAT is extra.

Why isn't Microsoft Teams Phone in the ranking?

Microsoft Teams Phone can't be bought on its own; it needs a Microsoft 365 or Teams licence. Add-ons stay out of the standalone ranking, and the Teams Phone costs page shows combined figures instead.

Does the cheapest provider come first because it's the best?

No. The ranking only orders published prices. We don't test call quality, support or reliability.

Do providers pay to be listed?

Listing is free. Payment never changes our prices or estimates, and paid placements are labelled. The full list of ways we make money is on our disclosure page.

Do I need a new phone system before 31 January 2027?

If your business still uses analogue phone lines, Openreach plans to stop supporting them on 31 January 2027. Our PSTN switch-off guide explains what to check.
